Large Christmas Tree Cat Vase

The standout piece in this collection! Bringing a little sprinkle of Christmas magic.

Do you have a cat that loves your Christmas tree? This cat vase has been designed with that kitty in mind. Sticking their little face out from within the tree, these vases are comical and whimsical.

The making of these designs have been a labour of love but I'm happy with how they have turned out. Lots of testing and trial and error went into getting the right glaze and design combo. This is my large size cat vase, designed to hold a medium sized bouquet like tulips or daffodils.

The vase shape is thrown on the potters wheel in earthenware clay. I then trim, and alter the vase once it's leather-hard, adding ears, the little face, tree lights and star. The cat's features and lights bulbs are then carefully illustrated by hand in underglaze, giving each vase its unique personality. The vase is then bisque fired and glazed with a beautiful emerald glossy crackle glaze (and a transparent glaze), and fired again. It is finished with a gold lustre which is a 3rd and final firing. A long process but worth it!
